yoga for athletes
Jasyoga Athletica is the approach to yoga for athletes that Erin Taylor has developed utilizing her background as a collegiate basketball player and years of experience teaching yoga to athletes and active people of all sports and levels.
Jasyoga will make you a better athlete by bringing you:
- Enhanced performance
- Injury prevention
- Recovery from workouts and competition
Every body is unique and every sport demands something very different physically, mentally, and emotionally. Studio yoga classes tend to cater to the general needs of a broad range of practitioners, whereas Jasyoga Athletica classes are tailored to meet the specific needs of each athlete and/or team—making yoga as relevant and accessible as possible.
“Erin has done a wonderful job with our tennis players. We have improved physically and we have been able to avoid injuries. The most obvious improvement has been with our mental and emotional control. We are one of only 12 teams in the nation that did not lose a match to a team outside of the top 20 all season long—now that is consistency!”
–Matt Anger, University of Washington Men’s Head Tennis Coach
Athletes learn techniques to:

Practice control and coordination of key muscle groups- Focus energy to optimize sport-specific movements—allowing greater power in the stride, leap, swing, or throw
- Open muscles of the hips and legs to reduce pulled muscles
- Build relevant core strength to prevent back problems
- Stay calm and focused even in stressful situations
These skills are invaluable at game and have direct application to stepping onto the court, field, track, or diving into the pool.
Jasyoga will keep your body balanced and open you to the possibility that you can push harder, last longer, and achieve more than you ever thought possible not by gritting your teeth, but by taking a deep breath.
In other words, Jasyoga will help you find your flow.
This approach has already been embraced by collegiate powerhouses including University of Washington Athletics Department, where Jasyoga works with men’s and women’s teams from tennis to baseball, as well as local high school sports teams and competitive athletes in training.
“We had an extremely successful year (2010–2011) and Jasyoga played a significant role in that success. I feel we suffered fewer injuries, recovered better on a daily basis, and saw major improvement in specific individuals when it came to flexibility, hip strength and balance. In addition, the mental aspects of yoga practice, specifically with Erin, cannot go without mentioned. Several of our players were able to focus better during practice and games, as well as find that kind of “flow”, the balance between being relaxed and anxious, that help lead to prime athletic performance.”
–Lesle Gallimore, University of Washington Women’s Head Soccer Coach (2010 Elite 8 finishers)
